Description
Pauline Bailly
, series
Oil on canvas
In , Pauline Bailly continues her sensitive exploration of the connections between inner landscape and the representation of the feminine. A figure emerges from a deep, almost cosmic blue background, where the movement of the sky seems to mirror an inner turbulence. Her hair, transformed into a voluminous cloud, fills the pictorial space and partially absorbs the face, blurring the boundaries between body and environment.
Only one eye appears, discreetly nestled within the vaporous mass. This detail—both unsettling and captivating—becomes the focal point of the gaze: it suggests a diffuse consciousness, a presence that both observes and conceals itself. The figure's identity fragments, oscillating between appearance and disappearance, as if the subject were dissolving into her own thoughts or emotions.
Through the series, the artist questions the construction of the self, particularly in its intimate and shifting dimensions. The cloud, a symbol of instability, transformation, and impermanence, becomes here a metaphor for the mind—an пространство where memory, reverie, and perception intertwine.
Between the softness of forms and the intensity of color, the work invites introspective contemplation: what do we truly see when the gaze itself seems to hide within the visible?
Presentation
Women clouds evolve in a poetic universe. The cloud represents their thoughts, so it wants to change according to situations. It can be loaded with grey, white and bright, compact or airy, large or thin…
