Description

This contemporary abstract artwork explores the emotional tension between movement, memory, and the impossibility of returning to what once was. Built through luminous layers of neon green, deep violet, muted ivory, and atmospheric blue, the composition creates a hypnotic visual space where soft gradients collide with dark vertical structures and delicate traces of dripping paint. The result feels cinematic and meditative at the same time — like the final scene of an art-house film where nobody explains anything, but somehow you still feel emotionally attacked in the best possible way.

The blurred transitions and translucent surfaces create a sense of instability and quiet transformation, while the dark vertical line acts like an anchor between emotional states, memory fragments, or invisible boundaries. The layered acrylic and spray paint technique gives the artwork depth, vibration, and a floating luminous quality that changes depending on light and viewing distance.

Perfect for collectors searching for contemporary abstract artwork, large modern wall art, green and purple abstract painting, atmospheric acrylic artwork, minimalist statement art, gradient color field painting, emotional abstract decor, or luxury contemporary interior art. The balance between neon energy and muted softness makes the composition visually striking without overwhelming a space.

This artwork works beautifully in modern living rooms, minimalist interiors, luxury apartments, creative studios, contemporary offices, boutique hotels, and gallery-inspired spaces. It is also an exceptional gift for art collectors, designers, creatives, deep thinkers, and people who enjoy staring at abstract artwork while pretending they immediately understood the artist's existential message.

The restrained composition, luminous palette, and emotional atmosphere create a refined contemporary statement piece that brings depth, sophistication, and introspective calm into any interior.

Presentation

Evgenia Makarova is a contemporary abstract artist based in Aylesbury, United Kingdom. Her practice explores the tension between intuitive gesture and imposed structure, creating paintings that exist in a state of visual instability and unresolved balance.

She holds an MA in Graphic Design from Syktyvkar State University, a background that informs her sensitivity to systems, visual codes, and compositional logic. Working primarily in acrylic and oil, Evgenia builds layered surfaces where color behaves as movement rather than form—fluid, atmospheric, and immersive.

These painterly fields are interrupted by linear marks, repetitive signs, and coded elements that resist full integration. Rather than resolving the image, these interventions disrupt it, creating a dialogue between softness and control, immersion and interference. Her work unfolds as a negotiation between multiple visual languages that coexist without merging.

Evgenia’s paintings reflect on the instability of perception and the limits of visual coherence. The viewer is invited into a space where meaning remains open, fragmented, and constantly shifting—mirroring contemporary experience shaped by overlapping systems, signals, and interruptions.

Her work has been widely exhibited internationally, including presentations in the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Austria, Greece, and the United States. Notable exhibitions include Abstraction at Manifold Global Art Gallery (USA) and Female Gaze at Galerie Am Roten Hof (Austria). She has been shortlisted for The Bath Open Art Prize (UK) and the Fresh Legs Award (Berlin), and received an Honored Mention at J. Mane Gallery (USA).

Her works are held in private collections across the United Kingdom, France, the Netherlands, Germany, and the United States.

Through a layered language of gesture and disruption, Evgenia Makarova creates paintings that resist resolution—inviting viewers to engage with ambiguity, tension, and the shifting nature of perception.
