Description

This captivating artwork is distinguished by its bold use of geometric shapes and black and gold lines in a vertical composition. It is composed of varied linear patterns, creating a striking contrast between horizontal, diagonal, and vertical bands.

The harmonization of deep black and luminous gold hues lends a modern elegance, evoking a sense of both dynamism and stability. This work meticulously articulates each section with distinct patterns, drawing the eye while simultaneously demanding thoughtful contemplation. The carefully orchestrated balance amplifies the work as a remarkable example of geometric abstraction.

Artwork created by gluing quilling paper and metallic paper onto a cardboard base.

Presentation

XYBÊ's work has its origins in very different worlds. Indeed, Soulages' black, Klimt's golds, Vasarely's geometric visions, BUREN's work and Sonia Delaunay's compositions are all sources of inspiration for him, and he tries to bring all these paths together in his own work through collage.

The result is compositions in which black, gold and silver blend together in a space defined by strips which, depending on their thickness, direction or rhythm, create a whole. They respond to or contrast with each other, articulating themselves and creating geometric and abstract combinations with art deco accents, sometimes symmetrical or organised in a freer spirit.

These works, made with strips of paper measuring 3mm, 5mm or 7mm, require patience and meticulousness, with more than 1,000 pieces cut and glued one by one for the large formats.
