Description
The space fragments under an analytical gaze. The line hesitates, fades away and is redrawn. Geometric shapes intertwine in a play of subtle transparencies. Gray dominates the composition. It imposes itself in dense, almost opaque masses, contrasting with the lightness of the background.
A touch of yellow brings a sudden clarity. It isolates a cylindrical volume, creating a visual anchor point. Red outlines the contours with fragile precision. A deconstructed still life is discernible. The objects lose their function to become studies of volume and light.
The technique favors superposition. Layers of pigments cross. The paper lets the material breathe. Each area suggests a movement, a constant formal search. The final rendering oscillates between abstraction and figuration. The whole rests on a sober chromatic balance. The composition ends with a slight shift of the lines of force on the right edge.
Presentation
Born in Versailles in 1952.
Education: Trained at the Beaux Arts (School of Fine Arts) in Versailles (modeling) and the Beaux Arts in Paris (under Étienne Martin). This training was supplemented by various city of Paris workshops in painting and sculpture (Place des Vosges, Montparnasse, and Place Marc Bloch).
I work in Paris and Brittany. I belong to two artists' associations: "Le génie de la Bastille" and "Les artistes à la Bastille."
My work is expressed across painting, sculpture, and installation, with a predominance in recent years for sculpture and artistic installations.
I favor materials known as "poor materials" (as defined by the "Arte Povera" movement) — meaning paper, textiles, plants, and even plastic.
Deeply inspired by so-called "primitive arts," I seek to create improbable encounters that make different substances dialogue, thus creating an unusual universe that I hope is poetic.
