Description
This acrylic on canvas composition explores the boundaries of raw art. The line unfolds with total freedom. Nervous and intertwined lines accumulate to form a silhouette. The gaze, located at the top of the canvas, observes the viewer with a troubling fixity.
The graphic work favors spontaneity. Colored lines in red, blue, and green intertwine. They create a dense, almost organic texture. In the center, a circle marked with a cross attracts attention. This symbol contrasts with the apparent chaos of the surrounding lines.
The figurative approach fades behind a fantastic aesthetic. The white of the support allows the whole to breathe while accentuating the violence of the gesture. Each superposition of colors reveals an introspective search. The material organizes around a sketched face, whose closed lips suggest a deep silence. The whole ends with a discreet signature in the bottom right corner.
Presentation
Brigitte Derbigny is a contemporary painter, draftsman, and printmaker based in France. Her artistic talent has gained national and international recognition, with exhibitions in Spain, Canada, and Brazil.
Brigitte Derbigny's creative process is an introspective journey, a journey from the inside out, taking place in the margins of her mind. It begins with spontaneous bursts of inspiration, manifesting as quick sketches made with pencil, marker, ballpoint pen, or ink—whatever tools are at hand. These sketches constitute the genesis of her artistic exploration, transporting her beyond the boundaries of time and space, from the realms of yesterday to the landscapes of today.
A graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts de Lille, Derbigny currently resides and works in Burgundy, where she continues to explore the depths of her artistic vision, inviting the viewer to embark on a journey of introspection and discovery through her evocative creations.
