Description
The line imposes itself with instinctive urgency. This 2011 composition explores the meanders of the psyche through a style close to raw art. The gaze is immediately captured by a fragmented figure. The black outlines, drawn with marker and ink, delineate zones of tension.
The red dominates the palette. This color saturates the faces and organic forms, creating a sharp contrast with the light background. The superposition of materials brings tactile density. Acrylic and chalk intertwine to densify the space.
The drawing is populated with repetitive motifs. Small stylized faces saturate the background. They form a visual grid that seems to murmur around the central subject. The spatial organization rejects classical perspective to favor an inner vision.
The whole oscillates between portrait and abstraction. Each line testifies to a spontaneous gesture. The composition closes on precise graphic details, where the line becomes automatic writing. The work presents itself as a complex assembly of interwoven forms.
Presentation
Brigitte Derbigny is a contemporary painter, draftsman, and printmaker based in France. Her artistic talent has gained national and international recognition, with exhibitions in Spain, Canada, and Brazil.
Brigitte Derbigny's creative process is an introspective journey, a journey from the inside out, taking place in the margins of her mind. It begins with spontaneous bursts of inspiration, manifesting as quick sketches made with pencil, marker, ballpoint pen, or ink—whatever tools are at hand. These sketches constitute the genesis of her artistic exploration, transporting her beyond the boundaries of time and space, from the realms of yesterday to the landscapes of today.
A graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts de Lille, Derbigny currently resides and works in Burgundy, where she continues to explore the depths of her artistic vision, inviting the viewer to embark on a journey of introspection and discovery through her evocative creations.
