Description
This abstract composition plays on a subtle balance between figuration and deconstruction. The eye travels through a fragmented grid where nuances of azure blue, white, and earth shadow intertwine.
The artist uses acrylic and India ink to superimpose the layers. The gesture is precise, almost architectural.
Blocks of color oppose and respond to each other. Some landscape references timidly emerge through horizontal lines and chromatic contrasts.
The material thickens in places, creating a tactile relief. White brings a luminosity that airies the overall structure.
The whole evokes an urban or natural view seen through a prism. The tension between the dark areas and the flashes of blue guides the visual reading.
The work ends with touches of gray and beige that anchor the composition. Each area seems to be an open window onto a fragment of memory.
The final rendering emphasizes a search for transparency and the superposition of planes.
Presentation
(a.o.t.) is a Copenhagen-based concept design studio. With an insatiable curiosity, (a.o.t.) strives to prioritize contemporary relevance and storytelling in the things they produce - ranging from collections to unique pieces. They engender productions that do not hide behind their own utilitarianism and want them to be more than temporary supernumeraries in our lives - in order to challenge our perception of things. Both fascinated and frustrated by the history of manufacturing and production, they seek to learn, unlearn, rethink and challenge conventional ways of doing things. That's why their manufacturing process always starts with what our own hands can do. Reconfiguring the default way of thinking about things down to handmade processes. This ensures our versatility to an ever-changing contemporaneity. In an attempt to further challenge this way of thinking, they intend to create encoded productions with a contemporary presence through storytelling that goes beyond the thing itself - material curiosity, experimental contextualization or simply relevant things of the present. It means creating a closer relationship with the owner.
