Description
This acrylic composition explores the material with an instinctive approach. The eye surveys an arrangement of geometric blocks and spontaneous touches. Shades of white and grey dominate the canvas. They intertwine with splashes of sky blue and earthy shadows.
The work recalls the aesthetic of raw art through its assumed roughness. The layers overlap. They create a tactile relief where the brush gives way to the raw gesture.
The whole suggests a fragmented seascape. One can discern broken horizons and reflections of water under a veiled sky. The contrast between the light areas and the dark masses brings an architectural depth.
The balance rests on this play of tensions between order and chaos. Each area seems to tell a fragment of visual memory. The technical execution favors the texture and thickness of the paint. The artist's signature puts a final point to this abstract exploration created in 2026.
Presentation
(a.o.t.) is a Copenhagen-based concept design studio. With an insatiable curiosity, (a.o.t.) strives to prioritize contemporary relevance and storytelling in the things they produce - ranging from collections to unique pieces. They engender productions that do not hide behind their own utilitarianism and want them to be more than temporary supernumeraries in our lives - in order to challenge our perception of things. Both fascinated and frustrated by the history of manufacturing and production, they seek to learn, unlearn, rethink and challenge conventional ways of doing things. That's why their manufacturing process always starts with what our own hands can do. Reconfiguring the default way of thinking about things down to handmade processes. This ensures our versatility to an ever-changing contemporaneity. In an attempt to further challenge this way of thinking, they intend to create encoded productions with a contemporary presence through storytelling that goes beyond the thing itself - material curiosity, experimental contextualization or simply relevant things of the present. It means creating a closer relationship with the owner.
