Callas are one of the most recognizable flowers in Mexican visual imagery. They often appear in the works of Mexican artists next to humans. Their presence has become a kind of companion of Mexicans' everyday lives. But behind this beauty lies a very earthly story. Callas are grown, cared for, collected and sold. They are the result of the fertility of the earth and the daily work of man. So what is a beautiful gift for one person can be a harvest, a commodity, a way to feed a family for another. That is why callas become “flowers of life" for this work. They not only beautify the world, but also help to maintain it. In their pure, almost sculptural beauty, the energy of the earth, human labor, nature, refined aesthetics and the daily need to live are combined.
In this painting, I felt a woman who admires the beauty of flowers and draws inspiration from them, while at the same time treating them with awe, love and gratitude.
