Description
A pop and graphic aesthetic takes over the canvas. The black line, precise and sharp, delineates blocks of saturated colors. Yellow, blue, and red are organized into generous and rounded shapes.
The eye is drawn to a bold zoom. The tight framing suggests intimacy while maintaining a caricatural dimension. A pink hand comes to highlight this play of curves with a touch of humor.
The artist here translates their rigor and sense of rhythm into a figurative language. This composition is inspired by the codes of urban culture and cartoons. It questions with derision our relationship to the image and the exposure of bodies on social networks.
The acrylic paint brings a smooth and homogeneous finish to the whole. The contrast between the primary hues creates an immediate visual dynamism. The work plays on exaggeration to better criticize the race for likes. It is a reflection on digital superficiality treated lightly. The whole is composed of colored surfaces and marked contours.
Presentation
De world breakdance champion to painter, discover the universe of Vincent Lafif, alias Keys.
A historic member of the Vagabond Crew*, with whom he won 4 consecutive world breakdance championships, and a pillar of the Toulouse hip-hop scene, he spent 30 years elevating the movement to the level of art. Today he continues to create but with brushes.
He transposes his rigor from Bboy and his humor into painting to create a universe in his image: recreational, original, and tough.
Moncu! was not born by chance. It is the fruit of a satirical observation of our time: that of social media. Seeing the frantic race for "likes" and the permanent exposure of bodies, Vincent decided to give the public exactly what they demand, both literally and figuratively.
Moncu! is a cartoonish character, a mirror held up to our own digital obsessions. It infiltrates pop culture to détourn it with derision and transforms a critique of our society into an artistic endeavor.
It is a small, embraced trick, it is colorful, it is raw, and it mainly shows that one can make art without ever taking oneself too seriously.
