Description
This striking abstract composition by Richard Solstjärna demonstrates a masterful command of color and gestural mark-making, creating a dynamic visual dialogue between structure and spontaneity. Dominated by rich, deep blues that anchor the composition, the work features bold accents of vibrant yellow, emerald green, and burnt orange that punctuate the surface with rhythmic intensity. The layered approach reveals the artist's deliberate process of building meaning through overlapping planes and translucent passages, where colors interact and intermingle to create subtle chromatic modulations. Broad, confident brushstrokes sweep across the canvas, their expressive quality balanced by more controlled applications that suggest deliberate compositional consideration. The raw, unfinished edges of the composition enhance its contemporary sensibility, while the interplay of opaque and transparent passages creates a sense of depth and movement that engages the viewer across multiple visual planes.
The work's title, Destroy Everything You Touch 007, introduces a provocative conceptual dimension that contrasts intriguingly with the painting's carefully orchestrated formal elements. This piece exemplifies contemporary abstract practice that marries emotional intensity with intellectual rigor, inviting viewers to contemplate the relationship between artistic gesture, color theory, and conceptual meaning in equal measure.
Presentation
Richard Solstjärna is a Swedish contemporary artist whose work exists at the intersection of art, philosophy, spirituality, and science. His paintings transcend conventional abstraction by exploring the invisible energies that shape reality.
Drawing inspiration from abstract expressionism, Japanese calligraphy, Zen Buddhist aesthetics, and concepts from quantum physics, Solstjärna has developed a distinctive artistic language that speaks to both the emotional and intellectual senses.
Exhibitions in Europe, New York and Odessa. Including Solo, group exhibitions, Art Fairs and Biennials. Won prizes and Awards during the years. Represented in international art dictionaries and art books. International Press and media coverage over the years. Solstjärna's works can be found in numerous national and international permanent collections.
"In my paintings the Energy and Forces which are immanent in Nature are visualized. Forces at work in maximum self-sufficiency. Primary, undiluted, full of tension. Never at ease always in the moment. A pulse in rhythm and rhyme. Emerging from a Void, an emptiness and silent space which is the source of its origin." - Richard Solstjärna
