Description
Painted (no stencil or screen print) on a section of a vintage world map mounted on 2 cm wood, presented in a 3,5 cm deep floater frame.
One of Tizlu's key works, created fresh from the studio in 2026. Its generous yet versatile size allows it to find its place in almost any setting — bringing character, energy and inspiration wherever it hangs.
At the heart of the composition, a young woman stands with unwavering confidence, embodying self-determination, independence and the limitless possibilities of being truly free. Her presence radiates strength, character and a deep connection with herself.
Her black-and-white figure cuts powerfully across the weathered surface of the vintage world map. She crosses borders, coastlines and historic trade routes, as if drawing her own path directly onto the world.
She refuses to be defined by the boundaries around her. She crosses them, moves beyond them and claims her own place in the world.
The title L'Affranchie – – evokes this inner liberation: the moment of breaking free from imposed limitations, choosing your own direction and moving forward on your own terms. An inner strength that continues to evolve and cannot be confined.
This new interpretation from 2026 captures the essence of freedom in a powerful, emotionally charged composition. It carries the unfiltered spirit of youthful emancipation, infused with the raw energy, optimism and unmistakable atmosphere of the 1980s.
An aesthetic deeply connected to the spirit of that era and to the iconic image of youth embodied by Sophie Marceau. Tizlu takes this energy and translates it into his own contemporary visual language: a young woman who is free, self-assured and ready to choose her own path.
The rough, timeworn surface of the map becomes a symbol of a world already drawn and divided. Faded names, borders and routes evoke a past shaped by travel, discovery and change. Above these lines stands a young woman who determines her own direction.
L'Affranchie brings past and present together, transforming the world map into more than a representation of geography. It becomes a symbol of the freedom to question boundaries, cross them and refuse to let them define who we are.
A work about freedom, self-determination and the courage to follow your own path – driven by an inner strength that cannot be confined.
Presentation
tizlu aka Tiziano Lucchese is an internationally known ultra-contemporary artist. He studied Art and Technology in the Netherlands and lives in Germany. His works as a multi-talented artist have been featured on television and showcased at prestigious international festivals. In addition to his work in the fine arts, tizlu worked as a director for commercials and fictional movies and editor for prime-time shows on major TV networks. His art is part of renowned fairs and private collections across the globe; from New York to Paris, from Australia to Canada.
tizlu's paintings appear as they were directly cut out of a living streetscape—where everything is possible, and nothing is mainstream. His artwork is the result of a refined blend of materials and techniques. He uses plaster, paper, and acrylic paint to create textures that evoke the appearance of weathered walls. On this foundation, he paints his unique motifs, layers drawings, messages, self-made stickers creating an art piece which becomes an urban patchwork reflecting the raw, spontaneous character of the streets and today's society.
