Description
Painted by hand. No stencil or screen print!
This work is more than a painting – it is a hand-painted statement on a historical world map that serves as the pictorial ground, giving the piece both conceptual depth and a sense of temporal resonance. Every detail is executed entirely by hand – no stencils, no prints – only pure, original artistry rendered in striking black and white.
At its center rises a powerful female figure, her head thrown back in a gesture of defiance and freedom. Her flowing hair moves like a wave of untamed energy across the cartographic surface, as if carried by invisible currents stretching across continents and oceans. She becomes both presence and force – grounded in the world, yet internally extending beyond it.
The world map beneath her transforms the composition into a layered reflection on movement, identity, and global connection. Rather than functioning as a neutral background, it becomes a field of tension between geography and emotion, between fixed borders and inner liberation. The figure appears suspended within this system, challenging its order through expression and gesture.
Bold, hand-applied brushstrokes animate the surface, echoing the energy of urban visual language while remaining anchored in the historical character of the map itself. From this contrast between contemporary artistic force and cartographic memory emerges a dialogue between past and present, fragility and strength.
The work is presented in an elegant matte-black shadow-gap frame, which clearly separates the composition from its surroundings and gives it an almost floating presence. This framing of reduction enhances the impact of the piece and emphasizes its character as an object between image, idea, and spatial installation.
Vertical in format and commanding in presence, the work unfolds with strong spatial impact. It draws the viewer in, invites reflection, and becomes an encounter with raw artistic energy – at once contemporary and timeless, materially grounded and open to interpretation.
Presentation
tizlu aka Tiziano Lucchese is an internationally known ultra-contemporary artist. He studied Art and Technology in the Netherlands and lives in Germany. His works as a multi-talented artist have been featured on television and showcased at prestigious international festivals. In addition to his work in the fine arts, tizlu worked as a director for commercials and fictional movies and editor for prime-time shows on major TV networks. His art is part of renowned fairs and private collections across the globe; from New York to Paris, from Australia to Canada.
tizlu's paintings appear as they were directly cut out of a living streetscape—where everything is possible, and nothing is mainstream. His artwork is the result of a refined blend of materials and techniques. He uses plaster, paper, and acrylic paint to create textures that evoke the appearance of weathered walls. On this foundation, he paints his unique motifs, layers drawings, messages, self-made stickers creating an art piece which becomes an urban patchwork reflecting the raw, spontaneous character of the streets and today's society.
