Presentation
RUPERT GATFIELD (1959 - ): Rupert Gatfield is a British contemporary artist born in Malaysia in 1959. Largely self-taught, he developed an imaginative and distinctive style influenced by his childhood fascination with the tropical vegetation of Southeast Asia. Gatfield's paintings combine surreal imagery, natural forms, and invented landscapes, often bringing together organic and mechanical elements in unexpected ways. His richly detailed works feature hybrid plants, animals, architectural forms, and symbolic objects rendered in bold colors and carefully constructed compositions. He has exhibited extensively in Britain and internationally, including at the Royal Academy, Pastel Society, and Beaux Art Gallery, as well as in France, Spain, and the United States. Gatfield has also exhibited regularly with the John Martin Gallery in London, including solo exhibitions such as and .
