Description
This textured composition blends botanical form with raw materiality. A single plant emerges from a pale, atmospheric background. Rhythmic lines trace the slender leaves. They arch gracefully toward the edges of the frame. The artist employs a heavy impasto technique. Thick layers of white pigment create a sculpted surface. This tactile approach adds a physical dimension to the ethereal scene. Subtle hints of green and ochre define the stem. These muted tones contrast with the ghostly white surroundings. The light feels diffused and soft. Every stroke suggests a delicate balance between nature and abstraction. The surface is marked by deliberate scrapes and ridges. These details evoke a sense of weathered stone or frozen mist. The artwork captures a quiet, meditative moment. It transforms a simple organic subject into a study of texture and light. The composition remains centered and poised. The focal point is the fragile tension of the drooping foliage. Transparent glazes overlap with opaque patches. This variation creates a profound sense of depth within a limited color palette. The final effect is one of serene isolation. Precision meets spontaneity in the rendering of the thin, curving veins.
Presentation
Born in 1975 Currently lives and works in Shoham, Israel.
Hoenigs paintings express her innermost emotional world, feelings, interpretation of the world and her surroundings at the moment of creation. On the surface, Hoenigs paintings may appear optimistic, full of life, and somewhat naïve or childish. Perhaps this is the way she wants others to see them.
A deeper underlying level will reveal conflicts, difficulties, struggles and tensions between the different layers of lines and shapes as they integrate into the picture and begin to merge.
These creations are wounded, scratched, engraved with lines and covered with layers of paint and other materials, similarly as our life experiences and memories are engraved in our bodies and souls.
Even if we try to cover them up, they will always prevail. Hoenigs work is mainly abstract, implementing bold colors, lines and graphic shapes that merge with each other. She uses various forms of techniques and mixed media in her work such as acrylics, charcoal, pencils, chalk and panda as well as newspaper cuttings. Yael Henig is a respected Israeli artist, a graduate of art and visual communication studies at the Avni Institute, as well as painting studies in the US. Her work has been exhibited in a large number of exhibitions in Israel and abroad, and is presented in large collections, private and public, such as “The Bank Leumi Le-Israel Collection". and more.
