Description
This artwork vividly captures the essence of untamed nature through a dynamic portrayal of dense foliage. The composition is rich with a palette dominated by deep greens, earthy browns, and subtle hints of golden yellow, effectively conveying the vibrancy and complexity of wild vegetation. Bold, expressive brushstrokes give life to the twisting, interwoven stalks and leaves, creating a sense of movement and chaos akin to a thriving, untouched wilderness. The background, layered with dark tones, accentuates the prominence of the flora in the foreground, adding depth and intensity to the scene. Unique to this painting is the artist's ability to balance abstraction with recognizable botanical forms, evoking the feeling of being enveloped by nature. This piece stands out not only for its technical prowess but also for its ability to immerse the viewer in the raw beauty of a natural environment.
Presentation
David trained as a Fine Artist at Manchester College of Art before completing a Master's Degree at the Royal College of Art. He built a distinguished career in art and design education, teaching in Secondary schools. And later working as an adviser for local authorities and National education bodies. His contribution to education was recognised with an O.B.E for services to education.
Working full-time as an artist for the last 16 years, David's practice is deeply rooted in observation, interpretation and memory, inspired largely by the local environment. His work explores landscape and place through drawings, gathered references and personal experience, these often become larger paintings developed in the studio.
