Description
This energetic composition captures the raw essence of an urban environment. Bold strokes of ochre dominate the left side. They create a powerful vertical presence. The right side dissolves into a cinematic blur of cool greys and deep blues. A single flicker of red cuts through the center. It acts as a focal point amidst the chaotic movement. The technique relies on loose, gestural applications. This approach evokes a sense of fleeting time and industrial noise. There is a clear dialogue with the tradition of 20th century American realism. The mood is moody yet sophisticated. It translates the rush of the city into a tangible emotional state. Every mark feels intentional and decisive. The physical presence of the paint adds depth to the atmospheric perspective. Light reflects off fragmented surfaces. The balance between structured forms and abstract smears creates a rhythmic tension. This artwork is executed on linen glued to a treated panel. The surface preserves the thick texture of the oil paint.
Presentation
I use subdued colors and loose brush strokes, as in most of my paintings, in order to create the mood and feel of an urban setting. Art buyers may see a symbolic reference to prominent 20th century American painters like George Bellows, John Sloan, Isabell Bishop, and Edward Hopper.
All of my paintings are done on linen glued to panel which has been treated to prevent warping and last a lifetime.
