Description
Dynamic energy meets urban melancholy in this abstract composition. Bold brushstrokes slice across the canvas. The palette balances cool slate blues with warm, earthy ochres. These colors clash and merge in a restless dance. Loose applications of paint suggest the fleeting nature of a city skyline. Each layer reveals a calculated tension. The composition echoes the atmospheric loneliness found in mid-century American realism. It transforms a physical space into an emotional landscape. There is a raw, tactile quality to the surface. The artist utilizes linen glued to a panel for lasting stability. This technique preserves the thick impasto and the fluid movement of the paint. Light seems to filter through a hazy, industrial mist. The contrast between the dark depths and pale highlights creates a powerful sense of depth. It is a study of movement and stillness. The gaze is drawn from the heavy shadows of the right foreground toward the luminous, fragmented center. Every stroke conveys a specific rhythm. The artwork culminates in a sophisticated interplay of texture and tone.
Presentation
I use subdued colors and loose brush strokes, as in most of my paintings, in order to create the mood and feel of an urban setting. Art buyers may see a symbolic reference to prominent 20th century American painters like George Bellows, John Sloan, Isabell Bishop, and Edward Hopper.
All of my paintings are done on linen glued to panel which has been treated to prevent warping and last a lifetime.
