Description
The precise line of the pencil defines a dreamlike space. Several human figures unfold in it with a strange fluidity. The bodies stretch and deform. Curved lines connect the heads to the limbs in an organic movement.
The anatomy is explored from a fantastic angle. A nude man walks in the center of the composition. He seems suspended in a white void. Around him, faces float. Some bear touches of subtle colors. A bright pink crowns an upright hairstyle. A pale yellow illuminates another profile.
The contrast between the black of the graphite and the light tones creates a surreal atmosphere. The gaze is guided by sinuous curves that cross the page. The composition plays on the fragmentation of the body and the fusion of forms. The whole evokes a reflection on identity and metamorphosis. This 2021 creation mixes portrait and the nude in a clean graphic style. The final rendering focuses on the finesse of the line and the management of the void.
Presentation
Shank Arte lives in Mérignac and works in Bordeaux.
He has been drawing since kindergarten and will always be drawn to artistic creation.
He started photography in 1998 and learned the B&W lab in 1999, then developed his practice with regular photo workshops (shooting – by Gérard Vallet) from 2000 to 2009 (Studio or outdoor shooting) - analog and digital.
In 2004 he enrolled in oil painting classes with the artist Catherine BOUYX in Bordeaux.
Shank Arte enrolled in 2008 at the Condé school (Créasud) in Bordeaux for a foundation course in applied arts. He obtained his BTS in Visual Communication in 2011.
He created a digipak CD (for Gloom), various logos, posters, wedding invitations, business cards, and illustrations until 2014, when a professional opportunity to manage a pharmacy brought him to Mayotte. Indeed, after completing his pharmacy studies in 2000 and obtaining his doctorate in pharmacy in 2002, he practiced as a pharmacist.
Before flying to Mayotte, he had time to take private oil painting lessons from the artist Valentin CARO.
