Description
This figurative composition captures the effervescence of a kitchen with a light irony. The line, assured and dynamic, draws cooks with exaggerated proportions. Their toque hats stretch upwards, accentuating the movement of the scene.
Ink and pencil work structure the characters. Watercolor then brings touches of blue and ochre that animate the composition.
The artist uses caricature to transform a moment of work into a playful situation. The facial expressions, surprised and concentrated, turn towards a central dish.
The white space of the paper is kept to let the subjects breathe. This airy approach emphasizes the spontaneity of the gesture.
The technique mixes the precision of drawing and the fluidity of painting. The whole rests on a balance between round figures and vertical lines.
The scene stabilizes on a grayish base where the main container rests.
