Tilman

Tilman, a renowned abstract artist and art curator, continues to make waves in the contemporary art scene with his innovative and thought-provoking works. His practice, which blends the traditions of tangible art and minimalism, focuses on the intersection of form, color, light, and space, creating pieces that invite viewers to explore new dimensions. Currently living and working in both New York and Dolceacqua, Italy, Tilman is also the founder and conservation advisor of Dolceacqua Arte Contemporanea in Italy, further solidifying his influence on the global art market.

Tilman’s works have been featured in numerous prestigious exhibitions across Europe, Asia, Australia, and the United States, including a major solo exhibition at Kunstnernes Hus (La Maison des Artistes) in Oslo, Norway, in 2006. His creations, which include paintings, constructed environments, and 3D wall hangings, challenge the conventional boundaries of art, offering dynamic visual experiences. Tilman’s use of materials like paint, lacquer, pencils, and surfaces such as woven paper, MDF, and aluminum, highlights his versatile approach to art-making. His 3D wall hangings in MDF and aluminum, flatly placed on the wall, introduce new spatial possibilities that extend beyond the traditional visual plane, pushing the viewer to explore the depth of perception.

Tilman’s work has gained recognition in major publications such as ARTnews and Artnet Magazine, and his pieces are held in several prominent private and institutional collections, including Deutsche Bank, Pfizer, Teachers Insurance, The New York Public Library, and the Museum of Modern Art in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. His innovative approach continues to captivate collectors and art enthusiasts, making his works highly valuable assets in the contemporary art market.
