Description
Presentation
Harry Walker, French painter, was born in Tunis in 1947 and painted since 1957.
What appeals to him besides his technique is the approach. Then this relentlessness deployed to validate this approach, by imposing its style.
For thirty years, he targeted the small screen, which he declined to limit, with an uncommonly limitless imagination.
He created Televisionism in 1980 and gave it definition in 1985: "produces images launched by the media at the heads of artists".
1989 will mark the beginning of media coverage. program managers Frédéric Mitterand, Bernard Raot, Patrick Poivre d'Arvor ... Telethon managers offer him live or off-camera performances as well as on sets, equipped with a curious camera, the close-up , developed by Polaroid.
In 1992 Harry Walker adopted computer graphics.
In 2000, Harry presented the rules of his imaginary TV channel, the screen walls.
In 2003, he conceived a strange transposition, dedicated to Marie-Madeleine, in the Church of the Madeleine in Paris. The artist revisits paintings by Botticelli, de la Tour, Le Greco ... The subject is inserted inside the screens.
Later he customized a cow from Operation Vach'art, in the colors of the test pattern. "The cow bursts the screen" will be its title. A video edited by Highway Television reveals a highlighting of very impressive chromatic effects, from flashes due to repeated extinctions of screen televisions.
The first which is asked to him for an interview with the newspaper with the newspaper France 2: "Televisionism, is it opportunism?" To this, the artist Harry Walker replies: "This notion appeared to me naturally, as a way of understanding the universe, soft but obligatory; it would rather be a question of idealism".
