Description
Mooncake I, 2020 by Shine Huang Archival pigment print on Hahnemuhle fine art paper. Image size: 20 in. H x 20 in. W Edition 1/6 Small Size: 12 in. H x 12 in. W Edition 1/9 Signed on verso in ink. Unframed.
The artwork presents a striking still life composition, merging realism with an air of mystery. Central to the piece is an intricately designed mooncake, resting on a pristine white plate. Its detailed surface, marked with traditional patterns, draws immediate attention. A poised hand, positioned as if about to grasp the cake, introduces an element of anticipation and interaction. Adjacent stands a large, smooth, brown jar, its simplicity contrasting with the ornate mooncake. The backdrop is a deep, velvety drapery, casting a rich interplay of shadows and light that enhances the scene's depth. The use of muted colors and soft, focused lighting creates a dramatic ambiance, emphasizing the tactile textures of the items. This composition, with its juxtaposition of detailed and minimalist elements, invites contemplation of tradition versus modernity, evoking a sense of timelessness and elegance.
