Ricky Cohete   Emerging artists

This striking artwork depicts a figure poised atop a minimalist, rectangular pedestal. The figure's form is crouched, showcasing an intriguing balance between strength and vulnerability. The monochrome palette enhances the play of light and shadow across the body, drawing attention to the contours and musculature. The minimalist backdrop emphasizes the sculpture's dramatic posture, creating a sense of isolation and focus. The curvature of the figure's spine and the positioning of the limbs suggest introspection and tension, inviting viewers to ponder the emotional depth embodied in the pose. The contrast between the smooth, dark texture of the figure and the rough, light pedestal adds visual interest, highlighting the juxtaposition of organic and geometric elements. This artwork captivates with its bold representation of human form, exploring themes of balance, strength, and solitude.

Through his exploration of bodily movement, with modern and ballet dancers, and with particular attention to the male physique, the artist has focused on the curves and lines of their anatomy. The expansion of the body, intertwined with light, and the infinity of movement, like an eternal dance.

The harsh lights and shadows in the warm Florida weather led Ricky Rocket to explore photography. The sharp and refined effect of these types of lighting conditions became a necessity to avoid studio environments. Self-taught, while photographing ballet dancers in the city of Miami he began to devote more time to the male form. Working with them outside of their safe space (rehearsal studio) and taking them outside, on sand or water, creating a dynamic that kept giving birth to new compositions. Inspired by the mythology of tarot culture and astrology, he has incorporated some of these elements throughout his work.
