Presentation
Otist is a French contemporary artist whose work is at the intersection of street art, urban art, contemporary painting, and pop art. Developing an immediately recognizable graphic universe, he builds a work based on the détournement of icons from popular culture, emblematic characters, and references from cinema, comics, music, and art history. His plastic language combines humor, visual energy, and a critical gaze on the images that shape our collective memory.
Working mainly with acrylics, mixed media, stencils, collages, and resin, Otist creates works where graffiti, typography, tags, paint splatters, and graphic patterns mingle. The bright colors, strong contrasts, and superimpositions of materials give his compositions a strong visual intensity. His creative process is inspired by the codes of urban art, while developing a personal aesthetic where popular images are reinterpreted through a resolutely contemporary language.
Otist's creations explore the themes of consumption, celebrity, collective memory, and the circulation of images in our society. The iconic figures he revisits become the supports for a reflection on contemporary visual culture, while maintaining a playful and accessible dimension.
