Acrylic on cotton canvas, 76 × 61 cm
Unique work by Simeon Gonzales, a Latin American artist born in 1973, created in 2021 with acrylic technique on cotton canvas. In Rostro Azul, the artist develops one of his most recognizable subjects: the face as a symbolic mask, suspended between identity, cultural memory, and contemporary abstraction.
The composition is dominated by an intense blue background, which enhances the structure of the face and creates a strong contrast with the reds, oranges, blacks, and whites. Fluid and gestural lines cross the painted surface with energy, while the frontal eyes give the work a magnetic and almost ritualistic presence.
The painting recalls the visual sensibility of contemporary Latin American art, with references to Andean culture, cubism, and an expressive figuration of strong decorative impact. The balance between color, mark, and symbol makes the work particularly suitable for collectors interested in figurative abstract painting and contemporary South American art.
