Description
A fixed gaze. An assured posture. This animal portrait disrupts the codes of realism. The artist places a feline at the heart of an unusual scene. The animal adopts a human, almost aristocratic demeanor.
The contrast of patterns attracts the eye. The spotted coat of the leopard meets the graphic stripes of a zebra jacket. This play of textures creates a bold visual dialogue. The clothing conforms to the feline's morphology with rigorous precision.
The chromatic palette emphasizes the strangeness of the subject. The magenta trousers bring a touch of vivid color against a muted blue background. This choice reinforces the theatrical aspect of the composition. The influence of the scenography is felt in the staging of the character.
Acrylic allows for a sharp and precise rendering. Every detail of the animal's face is treated with care. The yellow gaze crosses the canvas and challenges the viewer. This 2024 creation is part of a fantastic movement where the animal becomes the protagonist of an imaginary story. The whole rests on a balance between academic technique and surrealism.
Presentation
After training as a scenographer at the Arts Décoratifs in Paris and working in live performance, Muriel Andrin turned to decorative painting, and more specifically to trompe l'oeil. She has created sets and frescoes for various clients, both individuals and companies. For several years, she has been painting costumed animals, like portraits of family characters, in warm and contrasting colors. Her characters each have their own story and their gaze reveals their emotions.
