Description
The fixed gaze of a feline dominates this bold composition. The black line, precise and nervous, draws the contours of an imposing animal face. The technique mixes painting and collages to create a striking visual relief.
Fragments of letters and splashes of color intertwine with the white fur. This Pop Graffiti style fragments the central figure. The background explodes in saturated shades, mixing geometric shapes and urban patterns.
The balance between the realism of the gaze and the abstraction of the setting brings graphic tension. Each area of the canvas reveals a hidden detail, a different word or texture. The whole is inscribed in the aesthetic of contemporary Street Art.
This mixed-media work, created in 2025, plays on chromatic contrasts. The pure white of the coat contrasts with the dynamism of primary colors. The final rendering emphasizes the quiet strength of the animal through an urban and colorful prism.
Presentation
An emblematic figure of the French Street Art scene, Jo Di Bona owes his meteoric success to a unique technique he invented in the 1990s: "Pop Graffiti," where he combines collages and various graffiti influences with Pop Culture, a major inspiration for him. A modern-day Fauvist, Jo blends colors and movement to create faces imbued with poetry and emotion. Awarded the prestigious 1st Prize in graffiti by the EDF Foundation in 2014, he has since exhibited internationally, performed live, and created large-scale murals. Jo Di Bona was also one of the first Street Artists worldwide to enter the United Nations headquarters in New York in January 2017. He is among the 25 international artists featured in the Urban Contemporary Art Guide for 2019/2020/2022/2023/2024, has been on the cover of the New York Times, and is frequently celebrated by media outlets (radio, press, TV…).
He has appeared in various Art publications, released his first monograph in May 2024 with Gallimard // Alternatives, and was officially appointed ambassador for volunteers at the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
