Description
Presentation
José Parlá is a renowned American-Cuban artist known for his distinctive abstract paintings and large-scale murals. Born in Miami, Florida, in 1973, Parlá developed a passion for art at an early age and later studied painting at the Savannah College of Art and Design and New World School of the Arts in Miami. His work is influenced by his Cuban heritage, as well as the urban landscapes and diverse cultural contexts he encounters. Parlá's signature style involves layering calligraphic marks, graffiti-like gestures, and bold colors, creating dynamic compositions that reflect the energy and complexity of urban environments. His art has been exhibited globally, including at the Brooklyn Museum, the SCAD Museum of Art, and the British Museum. Parlá's contributions to contemporary art have garnered critical acclaim, establishing him as a prominent figure in the international art scene.
