Description
This fascinating artwork presents an intricate engraving blending natural and fantastical elements. At the center, an imaginary bird transforms into a ball of entangled filaments, creating an almost organic mesh. This hybrid creature seems to emerge from an abstract nature, evoking themes of transformation and interconnection. The detailed black lines contrast sharply with the pale background, highlighting the artist's technical skill and meticulousness. The delicate curves and sinuous lines suggest fluid movement and internal dynamism. This creation invites deep contemplation, encouraging exploration of the interaction between the imaginary and the real. A unique work, it magnifies the boundary between animality and vegetation, stimulating our perception of natural forms.
Presentation
Didier Hamey was born in 1962 in Dunkirk where he grew up. He likes to cite his origins and one cannot help thinking, seeing his work, of the moment of madness that takes hold of this city during "Carnival", which he never misses.
His workshop is now in Saou in the Drôme where he lives.
He exhibits in several galleries in France and abroad.
His work appears in many private and public collections: the National Fund for Contemporary Art, the National Library, the Gravelines Engraving Museum.
He has just made a beautiful retrospective exhibition of his engraved work at the Museum of Print in Gravelines and a residency at the Casa de Velasquez in Madrid.
