Presentation

Hamish Fulton, born in 1946 in London (England), is an artist of the conceptual art that can also be attached to the Land s. He works and lives in Canterbury.

Since the beginning of 1970, he travels to foot the world, 24 countries, thousands of kilometers, several hundreds of markets. It does not pay to his travel. This are the exhibitions, photographs, and publications which impose its approach as fact artistic. For him, this is the market the essential, the ephemeral market is the ?work of art. It offers a privileged relationship to nature. Of this fact, the ?photographic works of Hamish Fulton are more the culmination of course lonely in the nature that images of places.

In this sense, the work of Fulton is differentiated from the Land American Art by his gentleness, his privacy and the great economy of means. He photograph the landscape without intervention or fireworks he presents as well the views often wide of virgin landscapes, with rare individuals encountered, the ephemeral markings during the hike, accompanied by texts indicating date and place of the shooting, duration or length of the market, as well as topographic data, climate or natural (the words may designate missing elements of the image: animals, wind direction. ). The spectator is invited to reconstitute the space mentioned and the journey of the artist.

With regard to its ?works, Fulton spoke of mental sculpture in the direction where they are referenced as the sculptures to the notions of space, time and matter.
