Description
In this striking artwork, Bruno Boffa celebrates the boldness and creative genius of David Bowie, an eternal icon of music and pop culture. The black-and-white portrait of the artist, marked by the legendary red lightning bolt of Ziggy Stardust, occupies the center of the composition. Surrounding him is a vibrant universe blending graffiti, graphic symbols, red lightning bolts, electric guitars, handwritten notes, and underground cultural references.
The urban background, saturated with textures, torn posters, and drawn elements, evokes the artistic effervescence and rebellious energy that defined Bowie's career. The entire composition radiates an electric atmosphere, at the crossroads of rock, fashion, and the avant-garde.
Created on an aluminum panel, the piece combines photo montage and high-definition printing, enhanced with the meticulous application of gold leaf, which adds brilliance and depth to the composition. A high-quality automotive varnish is then applied, giving the work exceptional gloss and durable protection, while highlighting the richness of the colors and contrasts.
Boffa masterfully captures the essence of David Bowie — his visionary creativity, unique style, and free spirit — through a contemporary and powerfully expressive aesthetic.
Presentation
Born in Ixelles in June 1968, he has been passionate about cars and the visual arts since childhood.
His artistic studies at Saint-Luc in Brussels first led him for 25 years as a graphic designer in an advertising agency. In 2016, he decided to devote himself entirely to his passions.
Inspired by Pop and Street Art, it was then that he produced his first compositions and created Legend & Gentlemen Drivers as part of a collaboration with Jean-Pol Piron.
Photographic overlays each composed of a mix of at least twenty images on themes including mainly motor sport legends but also those of cinema and television series that rocked our childhood ... all embellished with draping, posters, graffiti, logos,… with its own refinement.
A finish composed of a lacquer of 2 layers of resin allows to give this depth and this particular luminosity to the work. Each basic creation is then produced in a limited series, signed and numbered, up to a maximum of 7 copies. A black and white series is printed on Plexiglas.
