Description
In this dynamic artwork, Bruno Boffa pays tribute to Graham Hill, a legendary figure in motorsport. Through a rich and immersive composition, the artist captures the heroic spirit and elegance of a golden era in Formula 1. Hill's intense black-and-white gaze dominates the scene, while iconic images from his racing career and the Lotus team unfold in the background: cars in full action, historic logos such as Lotus, Goodyear, and Esso, and vintage mechanical details blend together in a striking visual fresco.
Boffa skillfully combines historical references, contemporary graphics, and layered textures to create a powerful atmosphere that bridges nostalgia and modernity. The white sketch-like lines evoke speed, racing trajectories, and the raw energy of the circuits.
Created on an aluminum panel, the piece combines photo montage and high-definition printing, enhanced with the delicate application of gold leaf, which brings depth and brilliance to the composition. A high-quality automotive varnish is then applied, giving the work remarkable gloss and durable protection, while amplifying its contrasts and intricate details.
Boffa captures the full legend of Graham Hill — his unique charisma, passion, and racing legacy — through a contemporary and powerfully expressive aesthetic.
Presentation
Born in Ixelles in June 1968, he has been passionate about cars and the visual arts since childhood.
His artistic studies at Saint-Luc in Brussels first led him for 25 years as a graphic designer in an advertising agency. In 2016, he decided to devote himself entirely to his passions.
Inspired by Pop and Street Art, it was then that he produced his first compositions and created Legend & Gentlemen Drivers as part of a collaboration with Jean-Pol Piron.
Photographic overlays each composed of a mix of at least twenty images on themes including mainly motor sport legends but also those of cinema and television series that rocked our childhood ... all embellished with draping, posters, graffiti, logos,… with its own refinement.
A finish composed of a lacquer of 2 layers of resin allows to give this depth and this particular luminosity to the work. Each basic creation is then produced in a limited series, signed and numbered, up to a maximum of 7 copies. A black and white series is printed on Plexiglas.
