Description
This vibrant screen print exemplifies Lohse’s rigorous approach to color, rhythm, and structure, which defined his artistic practice from the 1940s onward.
Signed and numbered in pencil on the reverse

The composition is built from precisely arranged vertical bands in vivid primary and secondary colors. Subtle shifts in width and color placement create a dynamic visual rhythm, demonstrating Lohse’s interest in seriality, balance, and mathematical order. Despite the strict system behind the composition, the work retains a strong optical energy and visual harmony.
This screen print is printed in rich, saturated colors on Vélin paper and reflects Lohse’s commitment to clarity, reduction, and non-hierarchical color relationships.
Richard Paul Lohse (Swiss, 1902–1988) was a leading figure of Swiss Concrete Art and one of the most important pioneers of systematic geometric abstraction in Europe.
