Description
Named like the iconic song by Richard Marx this tizlu masterpiece has everything: a unique texture, a captivating motif, a powerful message, and vibrant colors.
A boy sits cross-legged, unmoving, his gaze lost in the distance. His expression is unreadable—somewhere between quiet contemplation and the weight of time pressing down on him. Is he waiting for something, or simply existing in this moment? Is he caught in hesitation, or is he exactly where he needs to be?
The surface beneath him is rough, textured like a fragment of an old city wall, as if it has been pulled from the streets and repurposed as a canvas. Its weathered structure speaks of history, of moments past, of time that has already slipped away. It gives the scene a quiet sense of permanence, yet also reminds us that nothing remains untouched by time.
Behind him, a massive clock looms, or rather, a portion of it—an unfinished circle, an incomplete truth. If fully revealed, it would be imposing, overwhelming. But we see only a fragment, as if time itself is always just beyond our grasp. Its hands are missing or invisible, as though the specific hour no longer matters. Does it still tick forward in silence, or has it stopped altogether? Is it a warning that time is slipping away, or a gentle reminder that it is ours to shape?
The boy and the clock exist in quiet contrast. He is still; it represents movement. He lingers in the moment; it marks the passage of all things. But is his stillness a sign of passivity, or a choice? Must we always chase the clock, strive to fill every passing second with purpose? Or is there meaning in the moments we let drift by—the moments where ideas have space to form, where thoughts deepen, where life simply is?
The painting poses a question rather than offering an answer. Perhaps it speaks of transience, urging us to make use of our time before it fades. Or perhaps it suggests that stillness itself holds value—that waiting is not always stagnation, but a necessary pause before something new emerges.
As a print on Hahnemuehle Fine art paper with a canvas like structure, the work shifts from monumental presence to intimate encounter. It adapts effortlessly to different interiors while maintaining its emotional gravity, turning any wall into a contemplative space. The image does not demand attention through spectacle; it holds it through silence.
And in all of this he remains: right here, waiting.
Presentation
tizlu aka Tiziano Lucchese is an internationally known ultra-contemporary artist. He studied Art and Technology in the Netherlands and lives in Germany. His works as a multi-talented artist have been featured on television and showcased at prestigious international festivals. In addition to his work in the fine arts, tizlu worked as a director for commercials and fictional movies and editor for prime-time shows on major TV networks. His art is part of renowned fairs and private collections across the globe; from New York to Paris, from Australia to Canada.
tizlu's paintings appear as they were directly cut out of a living streetscape—where everything is possible, and nothing is mainstream. His artwork is the result of a refined blend of materials and techniques. He uses plaster, paper, and acrylic paint to create textures that evoke the appearance of weathered walls. On this foundation, he paints his unique motifs, layers drawings, messages, self-made stickers creating an art piece which becomes an urban patchwork reflecting the raw, spontaneous character of the streets and today's society.
