Description
This vibrant diptych reinterprets the iconic video game figures, Sonic the Hedgehog and Mario, under a refined Japanese folk aesthetic inspired by art and mythological iconography. In the left panel, Sonic triumphantly stands on a destroyed classical column, with delicate golden veins running through his shiny blue body while Dr. Eggman floats in the background in a stylized spaceship; in the right panel, an imposing Mario with a traditional costume with floral patterns and a rising sun wields a luminous golden hammer while jumping on a huge turtle on a suspended bridge, surrounded by an oriental castle in flames and a stormy sky. With a finish that evokes high-gloss sculpted porcelain, the work combines a remarkable three-dimensional level of detail with an intense color palette, succeeding in transforming a classic pop culture confrontation into an epic narrative in a legendary style.
Presentation
