This refined diptych explores the duality between delicacy and strength through the representation of a female figure from Japanese tradition with an aesthetic of enameled porcelain. In the left panel, the woman gracefully holds an elegant paper and thread parasol under branches of flowering cherry trees (), dressed in a dazzling cobalt blue kimono with floral embroidery and ostentatious gold; while in the right panel, the same figure adopts a defiant and martial posture, holding a katana whose blade also exhibits characteristics of golden cracks. The two images are masterfully unified by the technique of , which runs across the alabaster face, hands, and clothing of the warrior with fine cracks filled with gold leaf, creating a visual dialogue between contemplative serenity and combative honor on dark and complex backgrounds rich in textile and botanical details.
