Description
A Parisian scene settles lightly on a powdered background. The composition captures a moment of rest in the heart of the city. A woman, modern and elegant silhouette, lies in a garden chair. She embodies daily serenity.
The line is assured. Deep blue dominates the composition. It structures the space, draws the contours of the buildings, and emphasizes the character's relaxed posture.
The background suggests the classic architecture of the capital. A few trees and empty chairs reinforce the impression of a suspended afternoon. Pigeons punctuate the ground, adding a touch of urban life.
The work on volumes recalls the codes of fashion and contemporary illustration. The precision of the line dialogues with more diffuse areas.

Presentation
Sophie Griotto was born in 1975 in Alès. She studied applied arts in Nîmes and then in Toulouse before moving to Paris where she worked for a large advertising agency. In 1988, she started working as a freelancer, as a storyboarder, which led her to make films for prestigious houses such as Dior or Jean-Paul Gaultier. She then decided to turn to illustration in 2003.
Her illustrations are inspired by the world of fashion, the world of media, the world of childhood and poetry. Women play a main role in her creations, she is represented in all her modernity.
Sophie Griotto uses a lot of fabric, which allows her to highlight the colors and patterns.
In 2014, Sophie Griotto was entrusted with the decoration of a Parisian hotel located at the rue de la Paix.
The illustrator is part of the art book "100 Illustrators" as well as in "Illustration now, Fashion" by Taschen.
