Description
The print unfolds in a game of striking contrasts.
Red and black confront each other on a neutral white background.
A wide red curve crosses the top of the composition.
It seems to float, liberated from any constraint.
Below, a swirl of black lines winds vigorously.
The gesture is fast, almost instinctive.
The lines intertwine to form a dense and graphic mass.
The accumulation of circles creates an effect of depth and movement.
Certain drops of paint escape the main shapes.
Aquatint brings a subtle nuance to the color blocks.
This technique allows to fix the raw energy of the line.
The balance rests on the opposition between the fluidity of red and the rigor of black.
The whole evokes a perpetual rotation, a centrifugal force.<
Presentation
Dominique - Paul STRUBEL was born in May 1962 in Colmar, France and studied the arts at the University of Strasbourg. In 1984, he was accepted into the Beaux-Arts school of Strasbourg.
Exhibitions:
- June 2010: artist selected by the Council of Europe Arts Club for an exhibition in 2011
- May 2007: exhibition conceived by Espace G de Strasbourg at the Store gallery, in duo with Eric Fiol
- July 2005: exhibition within the framework of the Colmar International Music Festival
