Description
Untitled, a photolithograph of 2016 by Isidro Ferrer (Madrid, born 1963), on a vertical sheet of 67.8 by 49.7 cm, in an edition designated LXXV, that is, seventy-five in roman numerals. Ferrer is among the most distinguished Spanish graphic designers and illustrators of his generation, awarded the Premio Nacional de Diseno in 2002 and the Premio Nacional de Ilustracion in 2006, and trained originally in theatre, an origin visible in his habit of constructing images from assembled objects photographed as small stage sets. Photolithography is therefore an apt medium, since it carries the photographic record of those constructions onto paper with the matt surface of print. The use of roman numerals for the edition ordinarily designates a tranche distinct from an arabic-numbered principal edition.
