Description
This minimalist artwork presents a structured, layered composition charting seven stages and their corresponding themes. Each stage is vividly represented by horizontal black bars set against a muted green background, creating a striking color contrast. The themes—manifestation, passion, honesty, love, entertainment, intuition, and healing—are distinctly labeled in white, sans-serif font within each bar. Subtle indications of stages, labeled from 1 to 7, structure the progression, subtly suggesting a journey or evolution of personal growth. In the lower left corner, a small red circle with abstract white design adds an intriguing visual counterpoint, potentially serving as a symbolic anchor for the piece. Presentation
Born in Osaka, Japan, Chie Araki came to New York to study graphic design at the School of Visual Arts from 1998 to 2001.
After graduating, she worked for five years at MTV Networks, where she worked on the "Gutterpups" show. Wanting to expand her creative life beyond graphic design, Chie Araki returned to SVA to study Fine Arts and post-graduated in 2012.
The artist invented the name « Bearömixx » to describe her own style and favorite character. It's a bear drawn with circles and simple geometric shapes whose facial expressions change to express various emotions of our daily life.
Araki's art was deeply influenced by the designs of the 70's, the Japanese Kawai culture, animism or even mind-expanding designs. The combination of designer concepts and an artistic approach is the foundation of her « Bearömixx » style.
Chie Araki has exhibited at many galleries in the world, including Allegra La Viola Gallery (NY), Space Womb Gallery (NY), Nord Art (Germany), Liquid Room (Italy) and was shortlisted for te London International Creative Competition in 2013. She also exhibited at the Carrousel du Louvre in 2015.
