Description
Pat Andrea lives and works in Arcueil. He is the son of the illustrator Metti Naezer and the painter Kee Andrea. In the 1970s, he founded the ABN group with two of his fellow artists Walter Nobbe and Peter Blokhuis. He continues to exhibit in the Netherlands. In 1976, Pat Andrea organized his first exhibition in Paris at the Jean Briance gallery. He obtained this opportunity thanks to the invitation that Jean Clair gave him. For several years, he continued to exhibit in Paris. In 1979, when he returned from his second trip to Argentina, he decided to settle in Paris where he met Antonio Segui. During the 1980s, he worked on the illustration of cultural, artistic or literary magazines. The critic Jean Clair chooses him again for the second exhibition he is mounting; the latter then gives birth to the movement of the second half of the twentieth century that is the New Subjectivity. In the 1980s, he carried out his artistic activity in The Hague, Paris and Buenos Aires. He exhibits in large cities around the world such as Amsterdam, Milan, Madrid, Los Angeles ... He is present at notable events in the world of contemporary art (FIAC, for example) and within major institutions (Center Pompidou). This engraving was produced by Atelier DPJ and may also be presented in a diptych with the engraving "the blonde woman".

He grew up int he artistic environment, his father was a painter and his mother was an illustrator. He traveled in Latin America and when he went back to Buenos Aires in 1978, he witnessed major social problems concerning Argentinians with several secret disappearing acts and isolation on the international level, that the population underwent. He draws inspiration from tango and a variation called "la punalada" (stab), his drawings are inspired by this and criticizes dictatorship.

In his work, he depicts an ambiguous and troubled universe, drawing inspirations from themes like Alice in Wonderland, representing erotic feminine figures, derived from his subconscious.
