Eulogia Merle

I am artist , illustrator and cultural activist. I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and have been living in Madrid for over 20 years, where I work as an illustrator for renowned newspapers ("El País", from Spain and "La Nación", from Argentina).

In 2012, I began exploring my personal work, coinciding with my birth, intrinsically linked circumstances: raising my son, creating my home studio, and my personal work are all part of the same aesthetic gesture. I conceive each work as a game, where everything happens in real time.

I am interested in abstract figuration, the subtle balance where the forces of chance, the unconscious gesture and the sensitivity of drawing interact. I stop at the precise point, where the spectator's intervention is essential to complete the work, like an invitation to new starting points. My recurring themes are connections and identity.
