Description
Dado developed lasting relationships with the engraver Alain Controu. The editions of the 1970s that we present on Artsper are works on paper where the artist engraves the copper directly without prior drawing and creates forms resulting from the fusion of the 2 icy elements that are steel and metal. Dado engraves as he paints: he begins an image that he never stops reworking for months, even years, to such an extent that the plate can change from vertical to horizontal. His chisel searches deep, hollows and scratches the body like a surgeon, as if, in the words of Michael Peppiatt, “the flesh had been woven, like a spider's web, around the bones. ". Dado is interested in drawing for its rigorous and austere side, recording everything like an electrocardiogram. Drawing is a classic representation of painting. Drawing "is as hard as salt" Dado tells us, "drawing with a pen is 60 times slower than graphite; the feather brakes you and you almost have to cut the paper, like a tattoo, the paper having a dermis side. Presentation

Miodrag Djuric is a Yugoslav painter, draftsman, engraver and sculptor, born in 1933 in Cetinje, well-known under his name, Dado.
Since his childhood, he has memories of his homeland, but mainly of the Second World War, a rage in Yugoslavia. In 1944, his mother died and he was devastated. He decided to drop out of school and went back only in 1947 and joined the Fine Arts School of Herceg Novi. He then studied at the Fine Arts school in Belgrade.

Even though he didn't speak French, Miodrag Djuric moved to France in 1956. Quickly, he worked in a lithography studio, where he met Jean Dubuffet, a famous artist. The latter introduced him to Daniel Cordier, who was his key merchant for many years but also his mentor. Despite Dado's artistic rise, he didn't like the atmosphere in the capital and wanted some peace. He bought Cordier's old mill, located in Herouval.

In 1962, he became a world famous artist, Dado spent three months in New York, where he met his future wife Hessie. They had five children.

For more than sixty years, Dado created, painted and drew...He usually worked with oil, on large formatted canvases but also used acrylic and various mediums like wood or metal. Dado's work is organic, the artist tries to inspire energy in his paintings and forges a pictorial identity, which is easily recognizable. His style has evolved, especially through his use of colors.
In 1990, he began a series of mural paintings.
2000 onwards, he did digital collages and set off to create a virtual anti-museum, for which he had to make special works.
Dado also had a passion for lithography, engravings, sculptures and illustrations.
Famous gallery owners bet on Dado and exhibited in his work. Many of them were renowned museums like the Centre Pompidou or the Musée national d'art moderne in Paris, who still have some of his works.
Dado died in Pontoise, in 2010.
