This artwork depicts the expressive face of Sean Connery, a wise and thoughtful man, his hand resting lightly on his chin. The work is distinguished by its innovative technique, using a layering of subtly varied wire mesh to create a remarkable play of light and shadow. The precision with which the facial details are captured demonstrates impressive technical mastery. The character's intense and introspective gaze creates an immediate and engaging connection with the viewer. This timeless portrait, soberly framed, exudes an aura of serenity and reflection, encouraging contemplation. The harmony between tradition and modernity makes this work unique and memorable.
Presentation
Passionate about the visual arts and contemporary art, Jean-Michel Collell produces portraits of personalities, characters of Pop Culture, using a technique he developed from simple wire mesh. The work in progress, entitled Perception, requires special attention to the image so that shapes and shadows form these monochromatic works. These multi-layered lattice sculptures use their through-wire network to create deeper shades in areas of focus and, alternatively, a sense of light in areas where the wires are held. Ultimately, these time-consuming works are the result of several sheets of steel trellis working together to generate a cohesive image, creating spectacular and striking works that blend the fragile grace and roughness of a very common material. reminiscent of chicken wire. All the art of Jean-Michel Collell is in the intense gaze of the personalities that he transcribes to us.
