Description
This sculptural work in wood stands out for its slender and majestic silhouette, reminiscent of a modern totem. The piece is beautifully carved, merging pure lines with complex geometric patterns. The skillfully incised textures provide an intriguing visual depth, creating a striking play of light and shadow. In the center, linear patterns form a symbolic language, adding a mystical and cultural dimension. The natural patina of the wood lends warmth and authenticity, accentuating its elegant contours. The top features a circular opening, suggesting a connection between heaven and earth. The solid base provides stability and balance, while the contrast between polished and rough surfaces enriches the tactile experience. This work embodies the harmony between tradition and modernity, captivating with its complex simplicity and timeless aura. It provokes reflection on history and identity through art.
Presentation
My universe is deeply inspired by the Neolithic world, the large-scale representations of the first traces of man, the dolmens, the menhir statues or the imposing cairns. Who are these builders, with what techniques and knowledge were they able to create these forms? It is the whole free field left by silence to these questions that is a source of inspiration, dialogue, research. And closer to us, the charm and spirituality of the temples of the 11th and 12th century of Japan.
My sculptures form a constellation of points, like a taut arc that connects us to these unfathomable origins, to nature, to space.
"I like to let myself be guided by impulses. The sculpture is built as I go along. I always try to create transparency, light effects by playing with the black of the wood licked by the flame, the orange gradients of the Douglas pine, the silver reflections of the steel.
Next to my studio, I have created a space of truth. The sculptures thus arranged must give me emotions, sensations, like a magnetic current."
