Description
This captivating artwork features four anthropomorphic ceramic figures arranged on a dark, textured base. Each meticulously sculpted figure displays a unique and expressive posture, evoking a blend of strangeness and curiosity. The bold use of earthy hues lends the figures an organic and natural appearance. The contrast between the rough texture of the base and the smooth surfaces of the figures accentuates their dynamic presence. The figures' facial expressions suggest an intriguing narrative, inviting the viewer to speculate on their stories and intentions. The work illustrates a subtle balance between abstraction and figuration, encouraging contemplation and interpretation.
Presentation
Raâk was born in Brittany, in the Finistère region, in 1940. At the age of sixteen, inhabited by malaise, she painfully leaves "the gast country" for the capital where her quest for the Grail begins.
1975: The year of reckoning. The path she had taken appeared to her as a total failure which made her struggle in a serious existential crisis. The "safety net" writing that she has always practised becomes powerless itself and is no longer of any help to her.
1976: Raâk discovers a free creative workshop in her neighbourhood where clay is offered as a therapeutic material. And this is the unlikely ascent towards life, which finds strange and jubilant passages through the pounding of her suffering. In his hands, obscure latent forces heaped up by thirty-six years of heartbeats explode.
