Delphine Hogarth

Delphine Hogarth (born in 1976) is a Franco-British painter. She started to exhibit her work in Paris in 1999 with Fat Galerie with whom she collaborated for ten years. She then went to live in London with her family where she carried on working on her artistic projects. In England she is represented by Thackeray Gallery. Selected for prizes such as the Royal Society of Portrait Painters in 2015, the Threadneedle Prize in 2016, and exhibiting in Palazzo Strozzi with Mall Gallery in July 2016, she now lives and works in France.

In her recent still life paintings, the objects depicted are not clear cut and are suggested by geometrical shapes. Their treatment in an abstract manner shows a perspective built by blocks of color, opaque sections and transparent ones. The subject matter is only just suggested since the artist is trying to evoke an atmosphere, a story. Sometimes there is a touch of humour in that she brings together objects that should not normally interact. The result of the paintings is that they should combine fresh colors and used textures so as to infuse a sense of experience and of something happened here...
