Léon Laurent Galand is a French painter and illustrator born April 18, 1872 in Montpellier (Hérault) and died November 4, 1960 in Clichy (Hauts-de-Seine).
Léon Galand, born in Montpellier in 1872, was a pupil of Ernest Michel, Robert Delaunay, Gustave Moreau, Fernand Cormon and Joseph Blanc. He exhibited at the Salon of French Artists in 1904 and obtained a gold medal and a 2nd Prix de Rome, an honorable mention in 1903 at the Salon of French Artists, a third class medal in 1909, a gold medal. He was decorated with the Legion of Honor in 1924. He also sent his works to the Winter Salon.
He realizes portraits, landscapes especially of Brittany and Provence, genre scenes and nudes.
