Biography
Combining contemporary portraiture with his trademark style graffiti crowns, Brian Smith's figurative mixed media works exude a modern elegance. The mysterious gaze and confident poses of his female subjects express freedom and tenacity. Years of travelling the world and discovering a myriad of diverse cultures and traditions inspired Smith's work.
The repetition of crowns as a main theme across his body of work reveals Smith's interest in the intersection of fashion, royalty, and creative expression. “There is this great intrigue around royalty and nobility. I like to mix that fascination with contemporary aspects of fashion photography and a hint of urban art to capture the emotions associated with this culture”.
Brian graduated from Savannah College of Art & Design obtaining a B.F.A. in Production Design and Art History. He resides in Hollywood, California and has exhibited at Los Angeles art galleries since 2020.
